TEST FOR SYPHILIS
Syphilis, or syphilis, is a sexually transmitted disease caused by bacteria. If left untreated, syphilis is a very dangerous disease that can spread to the heart, blood vessels, brain, eyes and bones. In some cases, syphilis can even be fatal. The expectant mother can transfer the infection to the fetus. The asymptomatic incubation period of the disease is usually 3–4 weeks. After that, 2/3 get visible symptoms. Contagiousness is high in the primary and secondary stages of the disease.
SYMPTOMS
Primary syphilis. 3-4 weeks after infection, a hard-edged, usually round wound appears at the site of infection, usually on the scrotum, labia, vagina, anus, rectum, or oral mucosa. One third do not develop an ulcer. The wound will heal on its own in a few weeks. Although the development of syphilis can stop after the healing of the primary wound, the disease must be treated because of possible late complications.
